Ten Tips on how to Choose a Wedding Sites

But for someone who’s inexperienced, the first question could be ‘Where do I start from’? Well, here are 10 tips that you’ll find extremely useful when looking for a wedding venue, especially when doing it for the first time –

1.Wedding venue – One of the first things that you will need to decide is whether you want a simple wedding or a grand extravagant one for yourself. This decision will dictate the kind of wedding venue that you chose and the location too. Depending on your choice, you may want to pick from the wedding halls that are simple covered areas which can be decorated later or grand palace-like structures with a sprawling gardens.

2.Wedding location – Irrespective of whether you are planning a large wedding or an intimate one with just friends and family, you should give a thought to the wedding location. Indian beach weddings can be a great innovative idea for those who want a gathering of only closest friends and relatives. Others who want to make it a much talked about event, could look at one of the palaces in Rajasthan or the palace hotel properties like Oberoi’s Uday Vilas or Taj’s properties in Jaipur or other cities. However, stay assured that the bill for such an event too would be quite huge.

3.Research well – Once you have decided on the kind of wedding that you prefer to host, research your options well. Make sure that you shortlist all the wedding locations that are possible. Once you have a manageable list try and visit as many of them as you can.

4.Book early – Book your wedding venue as early as you can. Booking early would not only buy you peace of mind but also probably get you some discounts which you might not be able to avail of at a later date. Also, good venues often get booked early and therefore, it makes little sense to wait unnecessarily.

5.Guest list – Before you choose a wedding venue or opt for a garden wedding, look at the approximate number of guests you expect to be there at the wedding. Talk to your would be   in-laws accordingly and find out how many guests they are expecting. A crowded wedding venue can really spoil the mood and make the venue stuffy and difficult to manage.

6.Ceremonies and where they will be held – While evaluating the wedding venue or the garden wedding area, have a list of ceremonies that will be held in your hand. Make sure there is enough segregated space where each of the ceremony can be held without any disturbance to the guests or the bride and groom.

7.Changing rooms and rest rooms – Indian weddings are long affairs that go on for hours. Children tend to fall asleep since the ‘mahurat’ (auspicious time) for most weddings is often at odd hours in the night. For better comfort of your guests, ensure that the wedding venue has some rooms or enclosed tents that will be made available for guests to change, take a rest or relieve them.

8.Catering service – Some wedding locations provide catering service so that you can book the location and the food in one go. Some wedding halls have tie ups with large catering services and will allow catering only by those catering groups. In case a wedding venue insists on specific wedding catering, make sure that you evaluate them separately on the menu, food quality and price. Almost every caterer and wedding halls that have tie-ups with certain caterers would happily invite you to taste the food. Request them to invite you on a day when there’s a wedding function going on so that you too can have a sneak preview of what your wedding could look like and what would be the taste of the food that’ll be served.

9.Wedding decoration services – In most cases, wedding decoration services are included in the wedding venue package. Ensure that you are comfortable with the kind of wedding decoration options that the venue offers. If there are any changes that you want, ensure that you pass on the instructions to the decorator well in advance.

10. Budget – Last but not the least, the budget is extremely important. Most weddings usually take place only in the evening hours and therefore  it would be advisable to book the lawns or wedding hall only for the hours you actually need it for. An experienced wedding party decorator would need no more than a couple of hours to have it ready for you provided he or she has all the logistics in place.
